Triboelectric Nanogenerators for Harvesting Wind Energy: Recent Advances and Future Perspectives

Throughout the world, wind energy is widely distributed as one of most universal sources in nature, containing a gigantic reserve renewable and green energy. At present, main way to capture use an electromagnetic generator (EMG), but this technology has many limitations; notably, conversion efficiency relatively low irregular environments or when there only gentle breeze. A triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), which based on coupling effect triboelectrification electrostatic induction, obvious advantages for mechanical some specific situations. This review focuses harvesting by TENG. First, basic principles TENG existing devices’ working modes are introduced. Second, latest research into energy-related summarized from perspectives structure design, self-power sensors systems. Then, potential large-scale application hybridization with other technologies discussed. Finally, future trends remaining challenges anticipated proposed.
